UNDERCROFT ( 1993 – 2017 )
The beginning of UNDERCROFT is marked by the appearance of their mythical first two demos. “To Final The Battle” the band’s debut recording, appeared in May of 1993. Then came “Demons Awake… Revenge is Near” in November of the same year. That led them to the release of their debut album, called “Twisted Souls”, which was recorded in 1995. Two years later, in 1997, it will be released “Bonebreaker”, the second album of the band. In September 1998 came out “Re-Demolition” which is the re-edition of both the band’s demos, plus some tracks taken from the recording of “Bonebreaker” adding a Napalm Death cover song, “Unfit Earth”. After a break and changes in the line-up, UNDERCROFT recorded one of their best works to date, “Danza Macabra”, released in August 2000, bringing in more of the force and power that had already started to characterize the band. This album was a great step for UNDERCROFT. The line-up was: Claudio Illanes on Guitars, Pablo Cortes on Drums and Alvaro Lillo Voice and Bass. A complete Chilean tour followed the release of the album, taking the band to the most prestigious venues in Santiago and other Chilean cities. For the live gigs, they began to use a guest guitarist to give the live performance the same sound and power as the studio recording. After the success of “Danza Macabra”, UNDERCROFT decided to expand their frontiers. With heavy hearts, the band made the hard decision to leave Chile for Europe, specifically Sweden, in March 2001. While there, they recorded a new album made up of 11 songs with the famous Swedish producer Daniel Bergstrand (STL, Meshuggah, In Flames, Dark Funeral, Stuck Mojo and Lord Belial among others) at Dug Out Studio in Uppsala. After the recording of this new album, which took three weeks to complete. The album was out in record stores in April of 2002 under PAVEMENT/CRASH MUSIC and it was called “Evilusion”. In the Chilean territory, the album was released by WAR Discos, the label that has released all the previous material of the band. UNDERCROFT returned to Chile and went on a full tour, including a performance in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Afterwards, the band returned again to Europe and started their next campaign in November 2002 through Sweden, Germany, Poland and Belgium. UNDERCROFT recorded three new studio tracks with Markus Geiger in the Kick That Ass to the Moon Studio; they also recorded a complete live show at the prestigious Fuck Christmas Fesival in Hamburg, Germany in December of 2003. The live recording of this concert was released under Negative Rec. (Chile) as an album in 2004 titled, “Bastard Live Hamburg”. This album also contained a fan video for the song “Evilusion”. In September 2006, a new album was put on the market by the German label Tiefdruck Musik and distributed by Universal under the name “Lethaly Growing”. The band had been out of their country a long time, which is why UNDERCROFT announced the Fuckin Chilean Tour in 2009!!! In 2011, their newest album ”Ruins of Gomorrah” was recorded, mixed and mastered again by well-known producer Daniel Bergstrand at the Dug Out Studios in Uppsala, Sweden and released worldwide under SEASON OF MIST in 2012 . Now, in 2016, UNDERCROFT is ready to show an advance of what it will be their seventh studio Album called “The Seventh Hex”, 9 tracks of aggressive Death/Thrash Chilean Metal.
